Jim Gordon was a friend of my dad, Abe Novogrodsky. Abe worked until age 98(!) facilitating the daily minyan at Beth David congregation. Abe died November, 2010. Of course Abe had asked that Jimmy look after his funeral arrangements. It was a source of pride to Abe that he and Jimmy knew each other and assisted so many people together: the sick and dying; the bereaved; the rest of us who participate in daily life of the community. Jimmy asked us to say just a few words ( "I usually only give people directions to the cemetery") at Abe's funeral. Our family and those attending Abe's funeral were very touched by his words of appreciation and respect and sympathy -- words made all the more powerful by Jimmy's work with Abe. Abe helped Jimmy when Jimmy lost his son. Jimmy helped us when we lost Abe. We offer deepest sympathy to Jimmy family and friends and colleagues. May his memory be for a blessing. Charles Novogrodsky.

I worked with Jim at Riverside-Gordon until 2002 when I retired. Jim's ability
to guide families through a most difficult time was unmatched. South Florida lost a truly great man.
