Charlie was my neighbor, but I met him long before that through my family. He always kept to himself, but was one of the nicest people I have had the pleasure of meeting in my life! I thought I was the early riser by getting up at 5:30am, but almost daily, as I was still sleepily going downstairs, I would see Charlie out the window, already up, dressed, and in his car headed somewhere!...probably to get coffee and start his day. He was the epitome of an honest, hard working and loving man.

Oh Charlie what memories I have with you.I was a young supply officer onboard the USS Hunley AS 31 when you sailed with us to help inventory per a request from Paul J Cone, CDR, SC, USN my boss the supply officer of the ship. We had some great fun besides working hard. Then in 1977 I reported to NSC Chasn as my last duties station & you sure left your mark on that command. All outstanding. Fond memories my friend go in peace.
