James Graf Obituary
December 11, 1941 - September 17, 2024
Wichita, Kansas - James "Jim" R. Graf, age 82 entered Eternal Rest on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. Retired teacher and headmaster having primarily taught Latin, Spanish and coaching where needed for Northfield Academy and Wichita Collegiate School. In 1999 he was inducted into Wichita Collegiate School's inaugural Circle of Gold, honoring him as an education "architect." Jim was a devout Catholic having been a member of the Knights of Columbus since the age of 18. His home parish was All Saints Catholic Church, Wichita. He actively participated in Beginning Experience and Cursillo. He also was the personnel director and in regional sales for Love Box company over 20 years. His loves in this life were Faith, Family, Reading, Sports, and Movies.
Preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Frances (Geist) Graf and infant brother Michael Joseph.
Survived by his daughters Devon (Mike) Packard and Jennifer (Jon) McClure, 11 brothers and sisters Edward (Nancy) Graf, Thomas (Julie) Graf, William (Linda) Graf, Alfred "Fritz" (Mary Ann) Graf, Robert (Gayla) Graf, Mike (Vicki) Graf, Gloria Rader, Mary (David) Odette, Donna (Bob) Poell, Rose (Steve) Bunton and Deborah (Billy) Schwartz, 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and an outrageous number of nieces, nephews and Godchildren. He loved them all dearly and called to celebrate every milestone.
Rosary, 7:00 pm, Monday, September 23rd with Mass of Christian Burial, 10:30 am, Tuesday, September 24, 2024, both at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 3642 N. Ridge Rd, Wichita, KS 67205 with burial to follow at Ascension Cemetery, 7200 E. 45th St. N. Bel Aire, KS 67226. I met Jim at Savutes restaurant some years back. I would see him on occasion at Mass, once at Blessed Sacrament and several times at All Saints. At Savutes he and my wife Nancy had many good conversations covering religion and all sorts of subjects, which he seemed to know something about everything. Jim is a person I wished I had known my whole life. That said I feel very Blessed to have known him at all. I am very sorry to hear he has passed and again Thankful to have know him. God Speed Jim!

To the Graf family. Sorry to hear of Jim passing. I will offer Mass for him and the family here at my apartment at some same time of the funeral Mass. I have known the Graf family forever. Know Mike and Rose from their days at Bishop Carroll (76 - 77) Love you.

Jim was my Math and Latin teacher back in 1975-1976 and was very generous with grades he gave me. Always smiling and enduring my lack of applying myself to study. What a wonderful man and I wish I had been able to visit with him in my later years and tell him thank you. God Bless Jim and your entire family.
