Not sure what to say?

I served aboard USS Barbey FF-1088 as an FTG2 when then-CDR Greene was the Commanding Officer, around 1980-1981. He was one of the best officers I ever served under, extremely competent, and with an approachable personality too. I remember him fishing off the ship's forecastle in the evening after working hours when we were tied up alongside that sub tender in Diego Garcia; he caught a few, too. He was a good man.

I'm a friend of Jim's from St. Peters High School. Occasionally, we would email or call one another. He was always a good friend and looked forward to seeing him at class reunions. I have a daughter in Novato, California and grandchildren in Driggs, Idaho and we always had something to talk about. God bless you Susan and family.

Jim was an advocate for the best of nature and the outdoors. His legacy will continue to support his passions through internships and scientific work. Thanks to Jim for all he did for the Henry's Fork and Henry's Fork Foundation!

Susan, I go back to the gracious visit as you welcomed Amy and I to Carmel, and the later when you visited us in NH. Jim and I go back to his first day on USS Barry when he became a dear friend and signs of his great career were being signalled. He was an exemplary Naval Officer, leader, and a charismatic friend to all. I will follow with a note about our times together. We have you in our thoughts and share your sorrow at his passing. He will be missed.

Jim and I were shipmates on the USS Barry DD-933 between 1965 and early 1967. Always a gentleman and an excellent Naval Officer. Sad to hear about his passing as we are having another Barry reunion in Annapolis later this month. He will be missed. Harvey A Dennenberg, LT USN, former shipmate!

Susan, so incredibly happy that I was able to have both you and Jim in my life and share in the kindness and generosity that exuded in your interactions with everyone! You will both always remain a special part of my life. God Bless both of you!
