Just a sad shock to hear of the passing of a great friend and colleague dating back to the mid seventies. I was privileged to share postdoctoral lab space with Jim at the University of Missouri for one year. Jim always had a kind smile, a way to laugh at all adversity and a ready shovel to dig my car out of snowdrifts in Columbia, MO. You will be missed. Rest in peace, pal.

Hello, Jim, I just learned the news that you passed away from an Angel, because I had a dream last night. Actually just this night, I wake up at 4:00am this morning, and now I am writing this memo at 5:00am. I was so saddened to learn of Jim's passing. I am currently in Kabul, Afghanistan and just wanted his family to know how far his influence and support rippled out. Jim was one of the first people at K-State to support and champion conflict resolution. Without his interest and support, I doubt we would have developed the programs that ensued. Today I am taking what was honed at K-State into new environments with new challenges.
