James L. Gurley

I appreciated Pastor Gurley very much. As a teenager, grappling with some issues of faith I remember meeting with him. He was kind and trustworthy.

Pastor Gurley baptized me as a child. I only knew him for a few years while he led Glen Park Baptist, but I still think of him all these years later. I remember him as a quiet leader - something I am still learning about 50 years later.

Dear Gurley Family,

We were saddened to hear of Pastor Gurley's passing, though we rejoice in the life that belongs to our Lord.

As the current Student Ministries Pastor of FBC Wheaton, I wanted to write to express condolences, and to mention that it was not difficult to find those that still remember. The legacy and memory of your time and ministry here at FBC remains, for which we count ourselves blessed. On behalf of the FBC family - blessings.

Betty and Family-You were so fortunate to have Jim in your life for so long. He was always a positive presence with everyone when we were together. May God bless all of your family for his loss, and may his fond memories stay with you all forever. Karen and I wish you peace and comfort as we all know he is going to be with his maker.

I will always fondly remember one of my favorite persons, Jim Gurley. It was only about a month ago when Jim helped serve me food when the Sun City Center girls got together for lunch at Betty and Jims' house. Jim was always so nice to me and also Howard enjoyed playing golf with him over the years and will miss him too.

May he find eternal peace and bliss in God's presence.

My parents, Marge and Jim Brinkerhoff, always spoke highly of their friend and neighbor Jim Gurley. My condolences to the family.

We were saddened to hear of Pastor Gurley's homegoing. Know that you are in our prayers. We have fond memories of Pastor Gurley when we were at Huron Hills. His life and ministry was a blessing to us: such a steadfast, devoted, man after God's own heart. He will be missed by many.
