My (now ex-)husband and I started Hipbone Studio years ago, and remember Jim fondly from those days, when he was drawing at our studio, and taking Bob Dozono's drawing classes at PCC. I ran into him many times after that throughout the years, such as at Central Library, where I workeed. Jim was a kind, gentle and lovely man, and I was so sad to read of his passing. My heart goes out to your family.

Dear Gutman Family,
What a lovely spirit Jim had, what a kind heart and thoughtful mind. I see him everywhere in my yard...the gentle and loving ways he had of tending the garden. I will miss him more than you can know. He was so kind and attentive to me (always) but especially after my husband died. He was also an absolute saint with Bob's mother as she moved into dementia at the end of her life. What a sweet man!
