Not sure what to say?

Jim was my "receivers" coach at Utah in '66 -69.' He was brilliant and funny and we all liked him a lot. He had a great career and will always be remembered as one of the great all-time coaches of the game.

my condolences to Mr. Hanifan's family, great man and a very nice person...very sorry for your loss.

My sincere condolences to the family and thank you for sharing him with us for so many years. I had the opportunity to meet him several times over the last 30 years and he always left you feeling like you were a friend of his. I think the party just started in Heaven.

Rest in Peace my Friend. You always brought a smile to my face. I was fortunate to get to know you and I loved your stories. There is no one like you! Many prayers to your family...and always Much Love To You!

I first met coach when he was the Grand Marshall for the Saint Patrick´s Day. Ever since we became best friends. We spent many Christmas at the McDonough house. And visited Mairiana each Christmas. Jim´s stories I will never forget. My dear friend I will always think of him. He treated me like a son. God bless my friend and Rest In Peace.

Met Mr Hanifan as we were waiting to tee off at Bahnfyre. We were just kids but he started a conversation with us. We were in awe that such a respected man would would speak to us kids. What a great guy!

In 1994 I was Coach Hanifan's pit boss at Harrah's Club in Reno. He played "21" and we talked football for over an hour. One of my St. Mary's College classmate's father was a Cal Bear "Old Blue" a few years ahead of him. Coach said he played with him, and the conversation went from there. His family owned a vacation cabin on the Calif. side of Lake Tahoe. Very friendly gentleman. He gave me the only autograph I ever solicited. Coach was wearing his 1991 SB ring.
