Yesterday I reread The Professor's House and today I picked up David's book and started rereading it. I thought a lot about David, and I googled him only to find his obit. (I wanted to tell him how much I appreciated having him as a student and colleague. I guess he was my Tom Outland in a way) I'm sorry to hear of his early death.

RIP, David Harrell. As a newsman, I appreciated your work in the secretary of state's office. I wish I had known more then about the richness of your mind. You are gone too soon for your family and literature, friends and dogs, but may you continue to feel the warmth of their love. My condolences to all.
