Read MoreI believe it was 1970 that I took a Law Enforcement class at Portland State. Jim was the instructor and, I believe, a lieutenant with the Portland Police Department. He was interesting, humorous and a great instructor. His passing is at a time when we need more like him.

Jim was our neighbor in Rockaway Beach along with his lovely wife Bev. We became close friends. Jim´s sense of humor was so dry, and he always kept us laughing. Unfortunately the neighborhood group disbanded with everyone moving away. But we kept in touch through email. If everybody had neighbors like Jim and Bev, the world would be a better place. Good rest your soul, Jim.
