James Heard was an inspirational leader, advocate, and consummate musician. He touched so many with his kindness. How can we thank him for his personal attention and support? He did not tolerate bullies and mastered Socratic Method as a teaching tool. He helped me with college applications and scholarships. I loved choir with him and many of my classmates. I am sad I missed his passing in 2012. Thank you, Mr. Heard. You were my hero. Sue Kozel '76

His kind words and unflagging sense of humor could always make things look brighter and better. I am so deeply saddened at the loss of a lifelong friend and...

My condolences go out to the family of James Heard. How do I thank a man who has brought such joy and meaning to my life, even long after my DHS choir and Madrigals days....I will always remember him and the integrity and beauty of the music he taught us to create.
