Not sure what to say?

Outstanding soldier, husband, father and grandfather. I salute you Sir!

Ihave been out of contact with Jimmy, as we have known him, for years until I received a phone call from Barbara. I was excited to hear of Jimmy. So our conversation lasted for several minutes. From this phone call and now emails I have learn more. Jimmy and I were vfery close during our pre Jr. high school and Jr. High School days. We were together every day at school and after. He always beat me with our grades. As time went on we left each other and sorta lost track during the war years,...

Hi Daddy. I don't want you to think we have forgotten about you. That will never happen. I think about you every single day, and you come up in almost every conversation we all have. Remember when Daddy did or said this or that? I miss you so much, Dad, but I know that I will see you again :) I love you, Daddy. It's still hard for me to believe that you're not here. Your presence is everywhere, though; you were and still are such a great influence on us all. See you soon, Daddy.

Dear Grandpa, June 4, 2012

You would've just turned 86, three days ago. The 1 year anniversary of your passing just happened, along with Memorial Day, too. Wish you were here to be honored. It's been over a year and I still miss you so much. I always will. I love you!

I was Col. Hefner's Adjutant with the lst Medical Bn. in Vietnam in 1968/69. He was the finest officer I ever worked for or ever met. He will be greatly missed. My very best to his family.
