Not sure what to say?

Dear Hess Family -- I know members of my family would have liked to have been with you in person as we held Jim in high regard (with my father debilitated and mom gone we are oftentimes out of the loop). I have fond memories of him from my boy scout days...he was always a "cool" dad to me (makes me think of James Bond!) I know my parents considered him among their long-held friends. We share your grief and wish you God's comfort.

This is another neice checking in to say how sorry I am that the last of the Hess boys has left us. We miss them all and I am sending my condolences to Aunt Dot and cousins. You have been on my mind daily. Seldom saw each other due to geography but have fond memories. Sharon Nolan Steiner

Sincere condolensces on your loss from the men and women of COMUSNAVCENT/COMFIFTHFLT Future Plans Center in Bahrain. Wishing you the peace of Christ as you remember your loved one.

Jim and Dot travelled with me on a 12 hour trip to our grandaughter's wedding one year ago this month. I was so touched as I spent time with them of how their love and caring for each other obviously endured and grew over the years. I am filled with gratitude and emotion as I ponder this time I was able to spend with them. It touched my heart. May God bless the families with many fond memories.

Their visits from Alabama were always greatly anticipated and much fun. I will miss uncle Dolph. I am very glad we were able to reconnect recently by email. God bless to Aunt Dot and the Boys. We'll be praying for you.

My Uncle Dolph, was a wonderful, gentle and soft spoken man. As a child I was always thought he was so handsome and smart, and he was! I personally have wonderful memories of Aunt Dottie and Uncle Dolph visting us, with those boys, from Alabama, they were so different from anyone in my small midwest life at the time.

Jim was a great person. I had a lot of respect for Jim and felt fortunate to be a co-worker. He generously shared his engineering knowledge and I learned a lot working with him at McDonnell Douglas and Boeing on the space programs.

He was a friend, a mentor, and a wonderful human being. I have missed him since he retired, and will always remember him.
