Not sure what to say?

My memories of Jim, John Graham and I walking across the UVa lawn, talking, laughing and loving one another remain vibrant, important and wonderful in my life. So do the times with Jim, John, Mary, Luther and all our friends at one another´s homes experiencing and exploring all the ups and downs downs of life. I will be forever grateful for all this.

Cousin Jimmy will always hold a place in my heart as the consummate southern gentleman and sweet man who shared his knowledge of our Hoban and Carpenter lineage with me, the last of the family to remain in Wilkes-Barre. I will always have fond memories of him and Mary. My prayers are with Mary.

Those of us who were fortunate to know Jim, recognize what a wonderful friend, l teacher and artist, but most of all a great person!

It's so rare to meet someone who has a bright light in their soul, who is just a good person to their core, so much so that everyone they encounter can see it and everyone is drawn to them. Dr. Hoban was absolutely one of those people. What an extraordinary man, and what...

Dr. Hoban introduced me to a lifetime love of film and movies! I will always remember those nights in the viewing room on campus with great affection. And that laugh! What a great and joyful laugh. So sad to hear of his passing.

I am heartbroken to hear of Dr. Hoban´s passing. He was my advisor at RMWC. Dr. Hoban was the kind of teacher who held high standards with warmth-a gentle yet firm guide who pushed you to think more deeply and expected your very best because he genuinely wanted to leave you better than he found you. I was also lucky to meet his wonderful wife, Dr. Saunders, during...

I am so sorry to hear of Jim´s passing. He was an incredible colleague, and an all around wonderful human being! Mary, I hope all those wonderful memories you shared bring you some comfort at this difficult time. With heartfelt sympathy.

Oh Mary, my heart goes out to you. I am so sorry for your loss, and our loss too, of such a dear, sweet, kind, and generous man. I loved knowing and working with Jim at R-MWC. He was such a joy to be around. You both have had such an amazing and beautiful life together. Please know that I am sending love and peaceful thoughts to you.
