James Hoff Obituary
Tampa, FL - HOFF, James Francis passed away suddenly December 10, 2018, in Tampa, FL, at the age of 73. He was born in Royal Oak, MI, and graduated from University of Detroit Jesuit in '63, and Xavier University in '67. Since 1967 Hoff has been involved with Major League Baseball. During his 52 years in professional baseball he has played, served as a minor league manager, coordinator and farm league director with the Cincinnati Reds, Toronto Blue Jays and the Tampa Bay Rays most recently as the Minor League Field Coordinator. He has been part of five World Series championship teams. He has also been inducted into the Billings Mustangs Baseball Hall of Fame and the U of D Jesuit Athletic Hall of Fame. He enjoyed golfing, biking, visiting the zoo and Disney. He is survived by his sons, Brian and Matthew (wife Ashley), grandson Hunter, brothers Robert and Daniel (wife Lyn), sister Mary Lou Scheid (husband Donald), sister-in-law Gayle and several nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held on December 20 at 1pm and mass will begin at 2pm at Incarnation Catholic Church in Tampa. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent to the Boys and Girls Club.

I had the great pleasure of being a teammate and roommate to the great Jim Hoff. We remember our wonderful friends long after the playing days and Jim was my
favorite. He could light up a room and never got cheated on conversation. When I heard, today, that he had passed my heart sank. I know his family and all who knew Jim will miss him always. Rest in peace my friend and teach the players up there how to turn the double play!
