I have nice memories of spending time with Mr. & Mrs. Hoke and their son Mike at Barneytown. You won't find a more generous, loving and fun family to be around. I will never forget Mike and I helping to unload Christmas trees in the bitter cold and Mr. Hoke keeping us laughing with his jokes. Mr. Hoke was a great guy with a big heart.

I had him for a math teacher in 1980 and as home room teacher from 1978-1982. He was a wise man, and to this day I often use a quote he had hanging on the wall in his classroom. "Assume nothing" it is as pertinent today as it was then. Making assumptions is often inappropriate. He was a great teacher.

Our thoughts, prayers and friendship are with the Hoke Family at this very sad and difficult time. We go back many years starting at Whitesboro High School and especially remember all the fun we had as kids with Jim and his brothers at the Hoke Miniature Golf course in Marcy NY. As time passed we touched base again when our children were fortunate to have Jim as their math teacher at Holland Patent. What a teacher he was. Caring, demanding, supportive and
always more than willing to offer additional help to his students. Such a student advocate, one of a kind.
Rest in peace dear friend.

So thankful that my own children got to know you as you spent your summers back in NY. Fun, fun cookouts.

Remembering when you and Mr. Smith would play 'match maker' as you called reluctant boys to urge them to call reluctant girls and ask them to the prom.
