Jim was such a good man, husband, father and a friend to all. I have known him, Denise and his family for over 40 years. He was an accomplished man in so many ways as well as a respected public figure. He always had a smile and was kind to everyone. He is already missed by everyone who met him. Heidi Arnold

For Jim The River Runner To be in the roar of the river, In the bound down swirl of bouldered spume and froth Only the one audible roar, the river Bounding down. This. The boat boom around pillowed rock to rock Behind where rest before the peal Leaning on paddled pivot into the misted chaos Of another and another and another Bounding down. This. Rest for a breath to calm the rush of Heart pounding in one moment of bliss This. Bounding down. For Jim The River...

I spent many a day and some nights in the second-floor conference room, during the many years of working at the "CITY". Jim was the smartest numbers guys I've ever known. Though sometimes we didn't agree, I always felt we were trying to the best for our city. In later years I had the pleasure of coach his son in hockey and found his devotion to his kids the same as his devotion to the city. Denise and the kids my deepest sympathy and prayers for your loss. Jim was one of the good guys and...

I´ll never forget the night Jim saved my life and my 1986 Saab 900. Alfred and I were up to no good in a blizzard. We were stuck at the bottom of the hill behind CHS. Al reluctantly called his dad, who immediately walked down the hill to rescue us. Jim took the wheel of my car and went from 1st to 5th gear in a matter of seconds. I had never seen that Saab so alive. She took flight up that hill like a boss, whistling like a Boeing jet taking off. Al and I trekked up the hill, as Jim said we...

Denise and family, I am extremely saddened by this news. I worked with Jim at the City of Concord. I have such high admiration for Jim -he was a smart man who was funny, easy to talk and get along with, treated people with respect, and most importantly made you feel like you were important in this giant cog-wheel here at the city. He was one of a kind. I hope that someday all these stories will bring smiles because I know there are many happy stories that just haven't been told...

Denise, Janis, and the rest of the extended Family: I am very sorry for your loss. Jim was 8 years older than me, but I remember him being part of the many trips we made from CT to North Haledon, NJ. As cousins, we interacted many times in my earliest years -- until he became a teenager and "too cool" to be around the "babies"! My Father "Mickey" (he was 14 years older), would take Jimmy for a ride in his car IF Jimmy helped him wash-and-wax it. While my father was in the Navy, he would come...

With heartfelt sympathy to all the Howards. Knowing Jim first through the City, then as a supportive parent to his kids athletic endeavors. He was an honest, thoughtful man that I admired.
