Not sure what to say?

I and my wife, Sandy, are other friends of Jim's from his military days. While he was in San Antonio serving as a medic, waiting to obtain his discharge, he and Joe would spend weekends with us at out apartment. We, too, went backpacking with him (and, of course, Joe). He was a very dear friend and will be sorely missed. Although we did not communicate often, he was often in my thoughts.

I'm just now reading about Jim's death. Jim and I met in the army, backpacked together, and spent some time together in MO before he moved back to OR. Although it has been decades since I last saw Jim, we touched base with each other every couple of years by phone or email. Just like today I was thinking of him and decided to Google him since my e-mail bounced back. He was a good man, I will miss him

I am so sad to hear about Jim's death. He was one of my best friends years ago, and my husband and I are sorry we didn't see him more often. He was a joy to be around, and we will miss him. Save a waltz for me up there, Jim. We love you.

Jim will be missed. He had such a happy presence to him and a great sense of humor. He was a great friend to me in the army and afterwards in Portland. What a great guy and I am glad to have known him as a friend. And may he rest in peace and dance with the angels!!

Jim was one of my father's best friends, and he was like an uncle to me when I was a small child. I remember him bringing me my first Erector set and my first Playmobile toys. My brother Ian and I always loved seeing Jim. He was a warm, kind person, and I will miss him. I have many photos of Jim playing with me when I was little, and I will make sure to share them with my daughter Eden.

Dear Howe Family,
It seems like only yesterday that Jim and I were teenagers in Atlanta, where we met through ham radio and the Atlanta Society of Teenage Radio Operators. Jim was always funny, helpful, kind, and a very good friend to me, though I was four years younger,
an eternity when you're 14.

Laately I had been trying to contact Jim to renew our friendship after all these years. Tonight I was determined to find his number on the internet. Instead I found news of...

sorry to hear of Jim's death, he was a great member of the dance/folkmusic community. we'll dance for him at Folklife in a couple weeks.

Our sincere sympathy in the loss of Jim. We know he will be missed. May he be in your hearts forever.

My condolences to Jim's wife and family. He was a precious friend to me and I now regret that I didn't seek him out more often - most of all I wish he had more years to spend with you.

I also send my condolences to the music and dance community that he enriched in this city. To all those that miss him and know what he did and also to those who enjoyed the dances and concerts he sponsored without ever knowing his name.
