Not sure what to say?

A life that was well lived! Some of my most memorable childhood memories was watching Mr. Hughes ride in the Rope Race with that beautiful white gelding. Loved watching and cheering for Christi Fury. Those poles, barrels, and rope race were so heart pounding and exciting. A few years ago, I went to the NY State Fair with some Gold Star families for the first time since I was a kid. When I entered that horse arena, I had a flashback of all those great Appaloosa horse show memories. My father...

Janet and family, I am so sorry for the loss of Jim. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Janet and family,
It seems news gets to me late in Prescott, AZ but I wanted to express my deepest sorrow and sympathy for the passing of Jim. He was a great man and I am certain he and 'Hap" are sharing a few good memories. Seeing the high desert here every day, and the Glassford Hills Antelope herd munching that dry grass, I chuckled when I read about the good grass growing along the road in Clyde. My Dad, Chet now 93 and in Phelps, along with brother Chuck all send our sympathies...

Jimmy, Mrs. Hughes, and family, I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Hughes’ passing. I know he will be missed by all. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time.

Dear Janet, Leslie, Jeanette and Jimmy,
I am so sorry for your loss. Although I have not seen your dad in many years, I have fond memories of visiting the farm and talking “horse”with your mom and dad. As I began riding in later years, I learned that your dad was highly respected in the horse and farming community for his knowledge and hard work. He was a good man who will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Susan...

Honored to have had a great uncle like Jim. Had that sly smile, direct gaze!

We will all miss our dear Uncle Jim. He was such a sweet man. He has such a wonderful family, I am so lucky to be part of it for the last 45 plus years. Love you all. So sorry for your loss. Prayers for you all. RIP Uncle Jim

Too many fond memories of Jim to count, both on and off horseback. If it wasn't for the Hughes', I never would have owned the best horse for me-an Appy of course. What a great guy!

Rest well, Jim. You lived 92 years with a truly full life and left your family and friends with memories that will carry them through theirs and you will be with them daily as they smile at those memories.
