James Hunt Obituary

Weslaco - James Theodore Hunt died peacefully, with his family at his side in his new home in Weslaco.

James was born in San Antonio, Texas, September 8, 1931, and grew up on ranches in West Texas. He graduated from Sonora High School as valedictorian and attended The University of Texas where he majored in Plan II. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity.

After completing his military service in the army, he returned home to ranch. He married Linda Link in 1960, and brought his wife home to the ranch.

James served as president of both Texas Sheep & Goat Raisers Association and the Mohair Council of America. For many years, James served on the local school board. He enjoyed his membership in the Order of the Alamo in San Antonio, Texas.

After 30 years of ranching, James moved to the Rio Grande Valley which he had first been exposed to when he met his future wife Linda, who had grown up in Weslaco. For over 30 years, James lived in what he called his "beautiful valley home".

In the Valley, James began growing roses. He loved arranging flower bouquets for the church services at Covenant (PCA) in Harlingen, Texas for many years.

He was involved in establishing the Evening Men's Bible Study Fellowship class in the Valley, and went on to serve as the area class Administrator for Latin America. This work took him and Linda throughout Latin America even living in Mexico City for three years and Quito Ecuador for one.

He is proceeded in death by his parents Velma and Bryan Hunt, and his sister Nancy Powell.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda Link and their two children, Hillary Elizabeth and Bryan Link.

Visitation will be at his home, 1202 South Border #672 in Weslaco, Texas from 4pm-6pm on Wednesday, October 11th. Funeral service will be on Thursday, October 12th, 2pm at First Presbyterian Church in Weslaco Texas with Pastor Scott Floyd of Covenant Presbyterian Church (PCA) officiating the service. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.

I still remember going thru AI school with James and helping him with his Brown Swiss cattle back in the 1970’s. I always had a high regard for his parents, sister, and whole family.

Linda ,

My heart is sad to think of your dear husband no longer walking the earth. His smile and loving ways were always a gracious reminder of our Savior. I pray God's comfort becomes a daily quenching of the sorrow of loss. Walking on...into the realms of Heaven is a reassuring thought. You are loved and admired and prayed for today and in the days to come. Give Hillary a love from me. With sincere sympathy, and

Walking in faith and devotion to Jesus
As you always do,
Janice Pinckney
