SMITHFIELD - James "Jim" Walter Hurst, 71, of Smithfield, died May 7, 2005. He was a native of Portsmouth, Va. Mr. Hurst was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School where he played clarinet in the band. He retired after 38 years as a Field Engineering Representative for the Unisys Corporation....

I was so sorry to hear the news about Jim's passing away. He was a very special person to many people.
He was a very big part in the growth (and upkeep) of the Smithfield Little Theater and I know they will miss him terribly for ALL the things he did for the theater.

Jimmy was a "ONE OF A KIND". There just aren't enough kind words to say about him. He was also a perfectionist, and went the extra mile in everything he did. He could make you laugh till you cried, and give you a hug whenever you needed it. I loved him at "hello".
