James D. Jaycox, Sr passed away peacefully September 12, 2025 at the age of 92. The most comforting aspect of his passing was that he died on his late wife's Carol's birthday. They had been married for 65 years. He is now dancing with his wife in heaven.


Loving father of J. David Jaycox, Jr. (Susan) and Joy Fox (Michael).  Known as Pappy to all of his grandchildren; Sara Shrouds (Bryan), Daniel Jaycox (Jo), Michael Fox (Jennifer), James Fox (Kristen), and Matthew Fox (Ivy).  He is also survived by 11 great grandchildren. 


Jim was preceded in death by his father John "Jack" Melvin Jaycox, his mother Mary McCarthy Jaycox, his brothers Jack and Bob, along with sisters Jean Rice, Tommy Jaycox, and Helen Heine.


Jim was born in McKeesport, PA outside of Pittsburgh. In his early life His first job was as a paperboy where he met a stray dog, he named Troubles. He and Troubles were inseparable.  His family moved around frequently as his father, an executive with US Steel, was transferred. He went to Horace Mann High School in Gary, Indiana. After high school he joined the US Army during the Korean War where he attained the rank of sergeant. After his enlistment was up, he rejoined his family who was then living back in Pittsburgh.  His career throughout most of his life was in life insurance business with the Insurance Company of North America, He retired from INA after 35 years of employment.


Jim will be missed greatly by his surviving family and the many friends he made over the years.


Relatives and friends are invited to greet his family Tuesday, September 23, 2025, from 10:00 - 10:45 A.M. at St. John Fisher Church, 4225 Chichester Ave., Boothwyn, PA 19061.  Funeral Mass 11:00 A.M.

My sincere condolences to the family. Jim had a great presence. He left a lasting impression on me. I loved to listen to his stories, he was a great storyteller and much the jokester. I find peace knowing he is exactly where he wanted to be with his Carol, Rest in Peace my friend

Our very special Uncle Jim was the kindest and happiest person. He was always there to lend an encouragement or help when needed..he will be missed but his memand legacy will live on in the hearts of his family

I loved my Uncle Jim. He was ALWAYS a positive person and looked for the best in people. He loved his family.
