Jim Johnson appreciates (Uncle) Jim Johnson

Never will I forget to appreciate Uncle Jim, whom I always liked, and for whom I was named (by his brother, my father: Richard C. Johnson). When I was a little kid, Dad would tell my older brother (Tom) and me about Uncle Jim being an FBI agent who was involved in Russian espionage work. Wow! Still I recall visiting Uncle Jim's family in New York, and the New York World's fair there. Also I recall times when Uncle Jim and his family visited my family in Maryland, and eventually Uncle Jim's...

As son of the man, named after Uncle Jim Johnson (my dad is James J.S. Johnson, fellow luminary just like his uncle), I looked up to Uncle Jim when we had a brilliant, keen minded discussion at a birthday celebration for my Grandpa, Richard Johnson, Uncle Jim's brother. I was mesmerized by his fast wit, sagacious observations on life, and general affability. Truly, this was a great man indeed, and the world is colder without him. Shine on, Uncle Jim!

Kathleen -- Tina and I just wanted to let you know that you and your family are in our hearts and prayers. Our prayer is that you and your family find strength during this most difficult time and that God's peace and comfort will be with you all.

We will really miss Jim's happy self. Bob knew him from high school, college and Sigma Chi times. We introduced him to Marie. He was best man at our wedding. We travelled and visited with them many times over the years and have maintained our connection many times over the years. Happy memories - but sad ending.

I am truly saddened by the passing of Uncle Jim. He was a special man and left behind a wonderful legacy. His nickname for me when I was a boy was "Whippoorwill". I always enjoyed my time visiting him, Aunt Marie, and my cousins. I hope and pray that the family will receive the comfort and support that they need during this difficult time.

Great photos of a wonderful guy.

Linda,
I was saddened to learn today about your father's passing. I hope that your loving memories of him will help sustain you during this very difficult time. Please accept my deepest condolences to you and your family. My thoughts are with you.
