James A. Johnson

To the Family and Friends of Jim "Swede" Johnson: I am sad to hear of Swede's passing. I am one of the fortunate ones that was privileged to know Jim and call him a friend, That friendship started back in the glory days of playing baseball for the Timblin Lions. Swede was the 1st baseman, and kept the young team members (of which I was one of) focused and on task. It was through his leadership and guidance that we had many successful seasons. He was a great friend and we talked almost every day. I didn´t realize he was not feeling well in the past month or so. I will miss our conversation most days.

To the family of Jim Johnson, I would like to express my sincere sympathy to the Johnson family formerly of Timblin. My parents, William and Dorothy Powell, my sister Donna, and myself were longtime neighbors of the family. I fondly remember Jim and his brother Pete and the Timblin baseball team. Their mother, Nell, served as my babysitter when I was a young boy. Jim served as the manager of the ball team for several years. Sincerely, Ronald Powell
