To Dr. Kaput's Family,
I am so sorry to hear of Dr. Kaput's untimely death. I worked for him at Umass Dartmouth as an undergraduate. Working with him on the Fall River MCAS Project was so influential on me as an elementary school teacher. I can honestly say he changed my way of teaching. This is a great loss to the math and education world. Please accept my deepest sympathies.

I was so sorry to learn the very sad news about Jimmy. Mary Whalen called me on Monday morning.

The strangest thing happened about 2-3 weeks ago. I had fallen asleep watching a PBS station and woke up at about 3 am and there was Jimmy on TV. He was talking about some math program and it kept switching from Jimmy to classroom teachers. I watched for more than an hour; they never did identify Jimmy but there he was. I actually woke...
