I was deeply saddened today to learn of Jim's passing. I had the honor of attending three FBI bomb tech. School in Huntsville, Al. With him in 2000. I got to know him over that 6 weeks if training. Just 2 sheriff's sergeant, from opposite end of the county (I was with Mecklenburg County North Carolina) spending down time together. He was a real first class guy. It was an honor to call Jim my friend for the past 15 years. We had similar military and police backgrounds and we both loved guns. I know he'll be greatly missed by his many friends and I really hate to see him ago. Jim was one of a kind.

Jim was one of the finest friends i was lucky to meet met every day almost for over 15 years afternoon pint i played at his retirement party at durty nellies we had a laugh every day. He was a big man with a big heart i had just talked to him recently he was having a beer on his front pourch. good friend good dad to andrew and good husband to his wife i will miss him dearly always had good advice..love you jim rip my pal Charlie Kenny.

Jim and I were friends. I met him through friends about 5 years ago.
What a character. He made me laugh and laugh.
What a memory he had and what a story-teller. Jim found humor in anything.
Once I got to know him and his background, he made me empathize.
I learned first-hand about valor, courage, strength and commitment.
I admire Jim, his service, his humor, his kindness and his friendship.
He is the real deal. I was looking forward to spending time with him fly-fishing...

Jim and I worked together for years, he was my friend, my brother, both in the US Marines and Sheriff's Department, I will miss him.
