Mr. Kennan was so kind to me when I began working at Blue Ridge Hospital in 1985. He was smart yet humble and I was so grateful to become part of the "Blue Ridge Community" that he fostered. At a time when I most needed it, he welcomed me to the Blue Ridge family of which he was so fiercely proud. I am honored to have known this fine man.

Mr. Kennan was such a respected and wonderful man. I worked with him on the 3rd floor of McKim Hall (UVA) back in the Dr. Detmer days. What a special time. Deepest sympathy!

My condolences to the family. Jim was such a kind and thoughtful person. I knew him as a fellow United Way Board member as we served many years together. He always had a smile and valuable contributions to any discussion. He was loved by all.
