Not sure what to say?

May He rest in Peace with Our Lord Jesus and with Our Lady of the Roses and Veronica Lueken.

When my wife and I married in 1985, we wanted to get married in my parish, because St. Mel did not have much of an aisle. The deacon she met with at St. Mel, did not want to give her the letter of permission. She went home, and returned some days later (I'm not sure what ensued in the interim). When she returned, the deacon gave her the letter, stating "Monsignor King allows it, so I have no choice but to give you the letter". He was a wise and compassionalte man; he didn't know me...

Monsignor King was a remarkable friend to my family. My Dad meet him and along with the Maher family(Decatur Ga.) attended many wonderful celebrations. When my Dad died he and Msgr. Shevlin traveled from the wonderful Diocese of Brooklyn to Cranford, New Jersey and concelebrated
Dad's funeral Mass- 7 months later to the day, they traveled again to morristown, New Jersey for my Mother's funeral liturgy. Both parents are buried in Holy Cross Cemetery and both Monsignor King and...

Monsignor King was a good and kind man and a true priest of God. The Parish of St. Mel was blessed to have him as Pastor and friend. May Our Lord be gracious to him.

Jim King was a friend indeed, first of my Father as he adjusted to widowhood anf thereafter of my wife Joan and our five children. The Monsignor, along with his late and similarly great friend Msgr. Ray Shevlin, presided at Pennsylvania (Carlisle & Pittsburgh), Virginia and Texas weddings of our four children to marry as well as at the Brooklyn funerals of my parents. Lest it be forgotten, Jim was a great Chancellor who led the way for the entire R.C. caninical structure in inter alia...

Uncle Jim converted my Father to Catholicism, married my parents, baptized me, married me, and baptized my son John. And add my sister, 4 brothers, and many nieces and nephews - a true friend of the Pohmer Family who showed us the way! A joker, singer, dancer and Leader of the Faith. May he rest in Peace with our Maker.

Monsignor King was a lovely, sweet and gentle man who always had a joke or two, or three to tell. Despite his many great accomplishments he always remained humble. I'll miss him. My deepest condolences to his family, whom he always talked about with such love and pride. Our loss is Heaven's gain.

Jacqueline Haggerty and her family -- Lynn and Dave, Tim, Peter and JoEllen and their families, express their condolences on the passing of James King and offer our prayers.

I was the Music Minister at St. Mel's in the late '70's. Msgr. was a great communicator---very funny person. I remember that he predicted that John Paul ll would be pope. Turned out he was right. May he rest in Peace.
