1957 - 2006
After a tragic accident December 12, 2006 on Rosedale Highway, James Edward Koob, 49, lost his life. The valiant medical team tried with all their will to keep Jim here, but our Heavenly Father's will was for Jim to go home.
Jim was born February 11, 1957 in Port Huron, Michigan to Edward and Sally Koob. He graduated from Port Huron Northern High School in 1975. He served in the Army as a PV2 from 1975 to 1978. He lived in California for over 25 years, a few years in Ventura County and 20 years in Bakersfield. After living two years in Michigan, he recently returned to Bakersfield ahead of his family. The family planned to reunite in Bakersfield in June.
Jim was married to Sheila Rene (Trivett) together they had four children, Samantha 20, Lewis 16, Katy 15, and Carter 4 years old. Jim was a member of Valley Baptist Church and had many loving friends in his church family.
Jim's profession was as an x-ray technician. He was most recently employed at San Joaquin Community Hospital. He was a loving husband and father with a passion for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A place in the hearts of those who loved Jim will never be filled.
He is survived by his family as well as his mother and step-father, Sally and Floyd Horley of Fort Gratiot, Mich.; his father, Edward Koob of Marysville, Mich.; a brother, Dean and wife, Julie Horley, Avoca, Mich; one stepbrother, and three stepsisters of Canada and the United Kingdom. He also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, and many cousins in Michigan plus his cousin, Lynn, in California.
Visitation will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park on River Blvd., Thursday, December 21st, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 22nd, at Valley Baptist Church.

It’s been 15 years since I’ve seen you. I remember the day that I last spoke to you. You had come back from Michigan to restart your life here, and I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw you! We ran into each other at Best Buy during Xmas shopping and I just wanted to jump for joy when I bumped into you there. I wanted to drop everything and just catch up with you. I was hoping that maybe we could hopefully work together sometime. Your positive attitude and jolly ways were such a strong force...

It’s been 14 years since I lost my friend Jim. I think about him often and of how his family must miss him everyday. I miss you too my friend. We had some good conversations and a lot of laughs together throughout school at BC. Your unwavering and strong faith in Jesus was and still is an inspiration to me. I miss your big smile and your little grin. You will always be remembered, RIP in Heaven always. ❤

Dear Rene and family,
This mark of four years feels like yesterday. All of us in this home miss him and we all speak softly and reverantly of him...we also laugh at our memories too. We know Jim would feel like he did not do his best if we did not have memories to laugh from.
But on this day, my tears stream down my face as I write and think of how I/we all miss him being in our lives. I miss his hugs, his smile and laughs and his love for his family.
Blessings to all of the...

With the holiday season soon approaching, I think of all the holidays we had together here in Calif. We were each ohers' family before all of our kids were born, during their births and raising them. We had each other to share our families with. I really miss you, Jim, but I am glad that Lewis and his family are close to me now so we can carry on family closeness.
