Not sure what to say?

Mr. Lasswell was my 9th Grade History/American Government teacher at Montgomery Junior High School, bar none, he was THE BEST teacher I have ever had. Towards the end of our last year there someone in our class asked him what did he want to do when he retired from teaching and he shared with us that he had a great passion for sailing with his Bride, Evelyn, having just read his obituary, I am glad he was able to do that with his Bride for 10 years! While attending Kearney Senior High...

I was very fortunate to have Mr. Lasswell as one of my teachers at Montgomery Junior High. I will always remember him with great appreciation. The lessons he taught and exemplified went far beyond the classroom walls.

Wishing I had another chance at painting those baseboards with you, Grandpa

Mr. Lasswell was my history teacher at Montgomery Jr. High. I remember him as a friendly, knowledgable teacher who seemed to genuinely care about his students. Yes, I am 55 years old, but I still remember him as the wonderful person he was who gave me comfort, caring, and education at that wasp's nest called Montgomery Jr. High. Rest in peace, Mr. Lasswell.

You were a great teacher!! I am so glad to hear you had many years with your wife sailing!! To Mr Lasswells family, please know he made a positive impact on many young lives. We thank you for sharing your husband father uncle grandfather with us!

RIP Mr. Lasswell.. best teacher I ever had!!!

We always enjoyed seeing Jim when he came with Evelyn to Grossmont High events and workroom. His warmth and care were evident in everything he did and just hearing about long-distance sailing for two was an adventure to savor. Our thoughts are with you.

I was saddened to read of Mr. Lasswell's passing. He was my favorite teacher at Montgomery Junior High School in 1972. He was a nice man and I wish I had had the opportunity to tell him what a good roll model he was and how much I appreciated the trust he put in a small group of us to accomplish special projects in the library instead of in the classroom. He instilled a sense of responsibility and confidence that has served me well over the years. My prayers are with his family in this...

I remember Jim being a great carpenter, as well as father-in-law, teacher, sailor, and grandfather/great grandfather. Jim was a wonderful "grandpa" to my daughters. He delighted in his great grandsons. Jim was a faithful Christian and active in his Sunday School class at Emmanuel Faith. He had a wry sense of humor and a beautiful smile. He built bookcases and patio covers at my home, and had a green thumb. As a newly-wed, I always envied his flower beds! Most of all, I will miss his...
