I loved caring for Jim and spending time with Both he and Ann.

What a fateful day when we met Jim and Ann while we were visiting La Jolla, and how fortunate we are to have been able to enjoy their company after we relocated from out-of-state. We send our condolences to Ann and their family. May his memory be a blessing. Irma and Pat Canan

I first met Jim when he was President of Spin Physics and I was a magnetic recording researcher at Xerox PARC. At lunch he suggested that I take up flying lessons, which became a major adventure in my life -- my first "Thanks Jim.

Later, when I was looking for a new job, the CTO of Seagate Technology called me to offer a position forming a group to design recording systems for their new disc drives. I guessed that Jim had had a hand in this. Seagate became the major career...

Jim was the most remarkable man I knew. Brilliant, generous of spirit and with charm to spare. He is someone of whom we can definitely say, he made a difference. And, also, just such fun to know him. Condolences to Ann and his family ... we will miss him.
