James R. "Jim" Leone, 79, of Leray Street and formerly of Syracuse, passed away on Tuesday morning, March 10, 2026, with his wife by his side.
A Celebration-of-Life gathering will be held at a date, time, and location to-be-announced.
Born on September 19, 1946, in North Syracuse, James was the son of the late Samuel and Dorothy (Fox) Leone. He attended North Syracuse High School. In 1964, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving three tours in Vietnam before being honorably discharged in 1968.
Following his military service, James worked as a barber for the remainder of his career, most recently operating Bob's Barbershop in Cicero.
On June 22, 1991 he married Rosemary Schneider in Black River.
James was an avid golfer and former member of the Rogue's Roost League in Cicero. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, happily puttering around outside.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 35 years, Rosemary; two daughters, Lisa (Nick) Coulombe of Constantia, NY and Isabelle (Terry) Granger of Pamelia, NY; two sisters, Suzanne Pompo of Cartersville, GA and Linda (Tim) Schreiber of Baldwinsville, NY; 7 grandchildren, Noah Coulombe, Brianna Leone, Austin Leone, Samuel Leone, Terry Granger III, Clayton Granger, and Natasha Granger; as well as 5 great-grandchildren, Cayden, Savion, Shyler, Soraeya, and Maverick, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Samuel and Dorothy Leone, James was predeceased by a son, Todd Leone, a brother, David Leone, and a great-granddaughter, Serena Brown.
