LINDMAN, JAMES Age 59, of Detroit, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 16, 2021. "Bo" was born on the Fourth of July and, of course, the sparklers and fireworks display each year were to celebrate his birthday! He attended St. John Vianney and Luke M. Powers Catholic schools. Jim received his undergraduate and master's degree at the University of Michigan. He was a dedicated lifelong educator, both as a teacher and a principal. To quote a former student, "Sometimes you are lucky to have a teacher who would influence your life forever, and that is truly what Mr. Lindman did for me." Jim was "the epitome of resilience and coolness," as one of his loving nieces recalled. Jim dressed with impeccable style. He exemplified resilience throughout the five years he courageously battled cancer. Jim embraced each day with enthusiasm and focused on the positive. He was an inspiration for all. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Thomas C. Lindman, M.D.; brother, Thomas Jr. (Tom); grand- nephew, Sidney; cousin, Michael. Survived by sons Eric and Carl; grandchildren, Cecilia, Jackson and Amelia; loving mother, Marilyn; 9 brothers and sisters and their spouses; 14 nieces and nephews and their spouses; 9 grand- nieces and grand nephews; 2 cousins; his special friend, Jennifer; and longtime friends through good times and the many difficult ones, Paul and Linda Novak. A funeral service will be held for Jim together with his brother, Tom, who passed away June 29, 2020. The Mass will take place on Monday, August 30, 2021, at 11am, with visitation at 10am at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2415 Bagley, Flint. Burial for Tom and Jim will immediately follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The family requests that guests follow CDC recommended COVID safety guidelines. Memorials preferred to St. John Vianney Elementary School-Flint, sjvkids.org or a charity of your choice.
