James Archie Locklear
Mr. Locklear, age 77, of Charlotte, died Sunday, October 30, 2005 at his residence after a 2 1/2-year battle with cancer.
Born September 5, 1928 in Scotland County, NC, he was a son of the late Archie and Katie Locklear. Mr. Locklear was owner and president of Locklear Clearing and Grading, having been in business since 1965. He was a faithful member of Trinity Church of the Nazarene. Mr. Locklear loved bluegrass music.
A Service to Celebrate the Life of James Archie Locklear will be held 4:00 PM Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at Trinity Church of the Nazarene with The Reverend Lloyd Brock and Mr. Odie Page, officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn West Mausoleum. The family will receive friends 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM Tuesday at McEwen Funeral Service - Charlotte Chapel.
Survivors include a son, Chuck Locklear and his wife, Rosemary of Charlotte; three daughters, Grace Fay Alexander and her husband, Ronald of Concord, Betty Ann Norman and her husband, Bill of Charlotte and Elisa L. Feiler and her husband, William of Charlotte; a brother, Thomas Locklear of Laurinburg; four sisters, Clo Chavis, Deavie Strickland and Salli Mae Locklear, all of Laurinburg and Mary Scott of Texas; a brother-in-law, Hilbert Bowen of Concord; seven grandchildren, Justin, Andrew and Hannah Alexander, Travis Feiler, Jeremiah Williams, Richard Nordman and Viva Webb and her husband, Greg; and three great grandchildren, Megan, Logan and Koen Webb.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Locklear was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Bowen Locklear in 1997; and two brothers, Frank Locklear and Linbergh Locklear.
