James August LoPresti, 76, of Bridgman, passed away Monday, March, 11, 2013, at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 A.M Friday, March 15, 2013, at St. John's Catholic Church, 600 Columbus Ave., Benton Harbor, with Father William Jacobs Jr. officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M Thursday, March 14, 2013, with the Rosary being recited at 7 P.M. at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery, Stevensville. Memorials may be made to the family. Those wishing to share a memory of James may do so online at www.starks-menchinger.com. James was born September 12, 1936, in Benton Harbor, MI to James & Lucille (Stepanov) LoPresti. He graduated in 1955 from St. John's Catholic High School in Benton Harbor. On January 17, 1959, he married Shirley (Crossman) LoPresti at St. John's Catholic Church in Benton Harbor. James was a police officer for the City of St. Joseph Police Department for 26 years, and following his retirement from the police department, he was a bailiff for 20 years in the 5th District Court. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed grilling, bowling, singing, and dancing the jitterbug with his wife. James was also a member of the Friday night golf league with his wife at Pebblewood Golf Course in Bridgman. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, his two children, Sheila LoPresti, of Dowagiac, MI; Jim LoPresti, of Bridgman, MI; six grandchildren; Cassidy, Cody, Samantha, Isabella, Raigan, and Corinne, and sister Madeline (Dave) Tibone, of Newark, OH. He was preceded in death by his son, Vincent LoPresti, parents James & Lucille LoPresti, and his brother Jack LoPresti.
