James Lovvorn Obituary
Jim was born on Oct. 24, 1949, in Sylacauga, Ala., to H.B. and Jimmie Lovvorn. He was a 1968 graduate of Gadsden High School and graduated from Jefferson State Community College. Jim was a member of Twelfth Street Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the Auxillary Service at St. Vincent's Hospital. He was a past member of the Kiwanis Club and the Rotary Club. Jim began his funeral service career at Collier-Butler Funeral Home under the direction of Robert "Bob" Collier, which spanned 40 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, H.B. and Jimmie Lovvorn; and mother-in-law, Dean White.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey Lovvorn; son, Brad Lovvorn and wife, Connie, Huntsville; granddaughter, Madison Lovvorn, Gadsden; sisters, Pat Griffin and husband, Billy, Rainbow City, Juanita Pruitt and husband, Terry, Birmingham; nephews, Lance Pruitt and wife, Kelly, Birmingham, Scott Pruitt and wife, Whitney, Birmingham, Kevin Griffin and wife, Tania, Tampa, Fla.; niece, Paige Pruitt, Nashville, Tenn.; his special pet, Aubie.
Pallbearers will be Scott and Lance Pruitt, Joe Saxon, Jim Dawson, Bill Tomik and Dennis Bryant.
Honorary pallbearers will be Homer Entrekin and Joe Horton.
The family extends special thanks to Dr. John Richardson, Dr. James Strickland, Dr. Ira Gore, CVICU and fifth-floor stepdown unit at St. Vincent's Hospital, nurse, Liz Barnett, Super B Drugs, Timberlake Pet World, friends at Central Church of Christ, neighbors of Williamsburg, members of the Gadsden High Class of 1968 and friends, Hope Saxon, Brian and Pam McElwee, Bill and Joy Pevsner, Kay Pugh, Flo Little, Marilyn Bugg, Mary Smith, Carolyn and Bill Tomik, Sherry Bridges and Keith Collins for your guidance.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any favorite charity.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.

Jim gave me so much laughter at JMG. We made that place fun. One night I could not sleep and was on FaceBook at an ungodly hour and Jim IMed me. It was a night I needed to hear from an old friend. We then emailed back and forth. I know you will miss him terribly. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am praying for Jim's family during this very difficult time. I have many fond memories of Jim from our days at Gadsden High School. I will never forget the encouragement he gave me during my mother's death. He was a very special person and admired by many!

Audrey I am so sorry for you and will be praying for you in this time of grief. Everyone loved Jim and I remember his extreme kindness in times of family sorrow. Audrey so sorry about Jim. He was a very sweet man. I will always remember how kind he was to me when J.C. passed. I did not know Dean was gone. I was thinking of her recently. I miss you and our rides to Church. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so very sad with Jim's passing. After talking to him in the hospital, I had great hope that he would return home to Gadsden again. Now, he is Blessed to be well and gone home to Heaven to be with God, and his Mom and Dad. Jim's compassion, comfort, service and friendship to others, is certainly a great tribute to his life, and an outstanding legacy for others to follow. He will be greatly missed by family, friends and anyone who's life he touched.
