James W. "Pepper" Lugg, 79, of Pen Argyl, went to be with his Lord, Sunday, August 25, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill. He was the husband of Bonnie G. (Rice) Lugg, they celebrated 48 years of marriage, June 12, 2013. Born: Born in Pen Argyl, July 11, 1934, he was the son of the late William J. and Blodwen (Jones) Lugg Voiles. Personal: Prior to retiring in1994, he was employed as a science teacher at Warren Hills Regional Junior High School, where he also coached baseball. He was a 1952 graduate of Pen Argyl High School. He attended Penn State and later graduated from East Stroudsburg University. He also served in the US Army in Germany from 1955 until 1957. While at Pen Argyl High School; he was a stand out athlete; playing football, basketball and baseball. He was inducted into the Pen Argyl High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2009. He also played baseball in the Blue Mountain League and was inducted into the Blue Mountain League Hall of Fame in 1987. Jim also enjoyed photography and woodworking. He worked for the former Multi Area News, Pen Argyl as a photographer and also had his own photography business, photographing weddings and other local events. He loved spending time with his family. Memberships: Jim was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Pen Argyl, and served on Pen Argyl Borough Council in the early 1980's. Survivors: In addition to his wife, Bonnie, he is survived by his daughter, Beth-Ann Snyder and her husband Joseph W. of Bangor, two grandchildren, Erin E. and Gregory J. Snyder, and two sisters, Elizabeth I. Messinger and her husband Clyde of Bangor and Ann L. Weber and her husband Norman of Bird Key, FL, and one nephew Bryan W. Ott of Bangor. He was preceded in death by a brother William. Services: Funeral services will be held Friday, August 30, 2013, at 11 AM at Grace United Methodist, 404 E. Mountain Avenue, Pen Argyl. There will be viewing hours Thursday from 6 until 8 PM and Friday from 10 until 10:45 AM all at the church. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Pen Argyl. The Guerro & Ruggiero Funeral Home, www.ruggierofuneralhome.com, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be offered to Grace United Methodist Church, 404 E. Mountain Avenue, Pen Argyl, PA 18072.
