Not sure what to say?

I am so sorry I did not see this obituary sooner. Jim Lydon was an exceptional man. In the 1960s, I entered Duquesne University expecting to be a science major, but found myself enrolled in his United States History course. Within a year, I changed to a History major. His wit and wisdom were inspirational. His teaching style remains with me to this day.

I am sorry I never had the opportunity to know your father, Kate. He sounds like an incredibly fascinating person. My sincere condolences.

I didn't know Dr. Lydon, but do know Kate. He must have been a great dad.

I had an American History class with Dr Lydon in in the early 1980's. He was a great professor, scholar and made you want more of the real American history. He will be fondly remembered. Eric Kozak BA 1982.

Sorry I did not receive word in time to attend the services, but I send my condolences to Mary Ann and Kate. Jim is remembered as both my professor as an undergrad and my colleague in the History Department at Duquesne. He was a man of wit and brilliance.

Our deepest sympathies to the Lydon family, our father Charles Loch (whom was buried today) taught in the Math Department at Duquesne University in the same tenure as Professor Lydon. Your family is in our prayers.

Good Bye Jim hope you are with Family and Friends Forever will miss you

I had Dr.Lydon for "Reform in the Modern U.S. at Duquesne in 1967 or 1968. It was a late afternoon class. How great of a teacher was he? One day he kept lecturing for about 20 minutes after the normal end of class. The entire class was enthralled and happy to be kept over.

Jim and I were in the first class to graduate from St Sebastian Country Day School in 1945. He was a very special person then and throughout his life.God Bless you Jim, we will miss you.Don Gibbons '45
