Not sure what to say?

Jim gave my father, Don Mariani, and me, a start in the real estate business in 1977. His example of daily professional kindnesses (dropping a card with a news article cutout in mail from PJS) has me copying him 50 years later.

My condolences to the Maloof family and to Michael on your loss of a leader who will forever have left a major mark on thos midwestern city, Peoria.

Our memories of Jim's dedication and support for St. Jude will continue to motivate our philanthropic endeavors. He will be greatly missed. May God comfort your family.

I used to touch this beautiful statue everyday and say a prayer. I am posting this statue of St. Jude in memory of Jim, Danny Thomas and my Nick.

I am very sorry for your loss. As my brother, Fr. Don Shadid, mentioned in another journal entry, I also remember Jim being mentioned by several of us Shadids, and always with a positive and happy thought. I remember him singing at my brother's wedding reception. I also had the pleasure of being an architect on the new municipal complex in Peoria, Arizona, beginning in 1986. Jim had just been down to visit for their centennial celebration, and once they learned I was from Peoria, IL they of...

I used to waitress at the Grill downtown. Nearly every week Jim would come in and I would chat with him. I learned that he came in just to take home a loaf of bread for his wife. I am still touched by his dedication as a husband.

The Maloof family, What a great loss to the city of Peoria. He sure meant a lot to me. It was a privelege to know him.

Nick, So sorry to hear of your Fathers passing. When he was Mayor he took the time to call Phoenix and sing Happy Birthday. I only met him once when we were still in high school. Never forgot him and kept up with all his great charity works. He can never be replaced in the hearts of Peorians. Patti Longworth Waterbury
