SCHAUMBURG - James A. Markgraf, Jr., age 71, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2014 after a 25 year battle with cancer. Devoted and loving husband for 44 years of Irene Markgraf (nee Davis). Beloved brother of Linda (Richard) Sprague, Wayne, Glenn and Pamela Markgraf. Brother in law to Beverly (the late George) Geiger. Dear uncle to Rebecca Glenny, Richard (Heidee) Sprague, Jr., Ryan Markgraf and great uncle to Kira Sprague. Preceded in death by his parents Rev. James A. and Naomi R. Markgraf. Nephew and cousin too many. Jim was a graduate of East Leyden High School, alumni of Anderson University and served the in the US Army in Viet Nam. He was active in the Hoffman Estates/Schaumburg Rotary for many years and served on the Board of the Kenneth Young Center. He was an active member of Willow Creek Community Church and served 18 years on the Video Team. Jim was a realtor from 1972 - 1996. For the past 18 years, he has been a certified reflexologist. Visitation 3 - 8 Sunday at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, 330 W. Golf Road, Schaumburg. In state from 10:30 AM until time of funeral service at 11:30 AM Monday at Willow Creek Community Church, 67 E. Algonquin Rd, South Barrington. Private interment at Mt. Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst.
