James Howard "Jim" Marksbury

When I joined Deerfield's Development Office Jim quickly took me under his wing. Our wives and children were equally close and we enjoyed many an afternoon as evenings together. In the office, Jim was known as "the word doctor." I asked him to proof my solicitation letters, and didn't understand why he moved words around in the Docs. Now I know and I write better because of his tutelage. Scanning my memory, I cannot recall his ever speaking of of anyone not affiliate with our rival school...

Jim was one of the few bright spots for me at Deerfield. Fare thee well!

Godspeed, Jim. I'm keeping you and your family in my prayers.

Mr. Marksbury was always a pleasant presence at DA for day students and boarders. Friendly and informed, he was a terrific part of the DA faculty.
