James Neil Marshman, 63, of Washington, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014, in his home, surrounded by his family.He was born January 19, 1951, in Washington, a son of Anne Swartzfeger Marshman Vankirk of Washington and the late Russell Marshman.Mr. Marshman was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving from March 5, 1968, until his honorable discharge June 11, 1970, with a rank of lance corporal. He was awarded a Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Rifle Marksman Badge, Vietnam Service Medal with one star, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, Combat Action Ribbon and Purple Heart Medal.Mr. Marshman had worked at Ball Glass and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.He loved life, his family, joking around and watching his granddaughter play softball. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching the Steelers and listening to his son-in-law play the guitar.On May 7, 1977, he married Donna Marshall, who survives.Also surviving are a daughter, Dana (Steve) Huffman of Scenery Hill; a brother, Russell (Meranie) Marshman of Arizona; two sisters, Betty (Reed) Haney of Washington and Barb (Joseph) Novogradac of Washington; a granddaughter, Sarah Huffman; and his mother-in-law, Margaret Natoli of Washington.Deceased are a daughter, Erica Marshman; a sister, Phyllis Jean Marshman; and a stepfather, Jim Vankirk.Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington, where services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 3. Burial will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.Additional information and a guest book are available at www.NealFuneralHome.com.

Words will never be able to express the graditude I have for you Jimmy! You always made me feel like I was a second daughter to you. We have had many laughs, good times, and great talks. I remember how you used to make your bicept move and I thought it was the funniest thing ever lol. I learned from you that cheese it's are an amazing little cracker and to always get up n feed the chickens!!! Rest easy old friend. Until we meet again I love you Jimbo <3
