Not sure what to say?

I met Lanny my freshman year at Northwestern. He lived across the hall from me. We had so much fun, maybe too much, and everyone loved him. After college we spent lots of time together. He was wicked smart but was probably the most humble and funny person I have ever known. We grew apart over the years but I will always remember him as one of my dearest friends at Northwestern. I am so sad that I couldn´t say goodbye to him!

I was a fraternity brother of Lanny...he was the house president when I was a freshman...my transition from high school to college was less than even and he pretty much took me under his wing my freshman year...I never saw or spoke to Lanny after June of 1968, but I recognized even then that he was one of the special ones, someone who would (& did) make a difference... peace, brother

Dear Sharon: I just learned of Lanny´s passing today (12-11-23). I am beyond sorry and heartbroken for your family...Please know how appreciated he was in our community! He was a special man and will be remembered for all the good he brought to so many others.

No superlatives are need. The Lanny Martin I count as a privilege to have known was simply a nice man. No higher praise is needed. He will be missed by all he knew. My condolences go to his wife and family.

Sharon and Family, I had the great fortune to serve with Lanny when he was Chairman of the Crown Castle board. He was a wonderful colleague: thoughtful, wise, kind, generous with his time and always willing to celebrate and affirm the contributions of all of the company's exceptional management and board members. I will miss our great Chairman and the wisdom he shared. I take great comfort, however, in the legacy he left not only at Crown Castle but at so many other institutions.

Sharon and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I was going to write a letter and then I thought I would call, went to look up the phone number and saw that James/Lanny had passed away. It sounded like he lived such a whole life. My sincere condolences. Bonnie Benson
