James Littleton Mason, age 94, was born March 21, 1930. He died on Friday, September 6, 2024.
His parents were Rennie Shackelford and Benjamin North Mason. He was preceded in death by his brother, Benjamin North Mason, Jr.(Allene). He spent most of his life in Hopewell, Virginia.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carole Preddy Mason; two sons, Deane Lipscomb (Maggie) and Scott Lipscomb (Wendy); two grandsons, Travis and Garrett Lipscomb; two brothers in-law, James Donald Preddy (Lynn) and Gregory Preddy.
Jim’s life passions were flying, tennis, boating, bird hunting with his dog, Beau and playing gin rummy or poker at the Westwood Club in Richmond.
Jim retired from Sovran Bank, which is now Bank of America, as an Executive Vice President in charge of commercial real estate lending. He served his country as a Marine Corp Reservist and was later drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War conflict.
All services will be private.

Personable, smart, intuitive real estate banker. Old school and one of a kind. Outside of that, a great story teller with a laugh to match. My sympathies to Carole and family. Rest in peace, Jim.
