Not sure what to say?

I met Jim at a holiday party he and Ginger hosted for CPSA 101--he was working on a colored pencil piece with honeybees as the subject. As a fellow CP artist I have long admired his work and will mourn his passing. My sincere sympathies to family and close friends.

I met Jim working with OAEA. What an inspirational person and talented artist! I'll always remember his 'tips of our profession'. Prayers go to all of his family.

We are saddened by the news of Jim's death and are thinking of you, Ginger, and all the family on this day of remembrance and celebration. We have many fond memories of times spent with Jim over the years.
Love and prayers,
Janet & Dan

I grew up with Mr. Mateer and his kids ... some of my favorite childhood memories were spent camping in their backyard with Missy and my sisters! He was the quintessential dad ... thank you Mr. Mateer.

I remember the times when Jim and Ginger opened their house in Wellington to host the annual Midview Teachers' Retirement get together. He was proud to talk about and share his latest projects in his home studio.

Jim's enthusiastic, positive, and cheerful outlook will be missed by all, especially the Midview staff.

My sincerest condolences to Ginger and all the family.

What can I say? I love the guy. I knew Jim as an Art Educator and as a professional artist. He was always willing to share his ideas and talents with students, colleagues, and anyone willing to learn. He even shared with me all his soup recipes for the Saint Valentrix get together he and Ginger organized. I miss Jim already. He made a difference in my life and he touched the lives of countless others.

Mr Mateer was my art teacher back in 1973 at Midview High & he was one of those teachers that you never forget. He helped me through a difficult period & was always there to talk to. A really good man.

You were a great professor and so dedicated to your work and students. I will always remember coming to your house for chili and checking out your studio. thanks for your inspiration.
