Dear Carolyn, Joe and I were so sad to learn of your husband's death. You have lost so many from your family in these past few months, but no loss can prepare you for this one. As a friend who grew up with you (remember Mother's Sunday School slumber parties where she went to bed and I had a party with you all..and the beginner band in Parsons? as well as all the years in First Baptist) Just know that you and your family are in our daily prayers.

Although we haven't met, on my thrice-weekly bike outings, I've followed the building of your lovely home on Ocean Pointe, and looked forward to seeing Jim on the Island. In fact, for several weeks, I have had his name and number on a short list of people to call. I'm sorry I didn't catch up on the list and make that call before now.

We have just learned of Jim's death and are so saddened for you. Though time and location have seperated us, we remember fondly those Macon days that we enjoyed together with Mercer, Wesleyan, church, symphony, and Morning Music Club affiliations and activities. Jim leaves an incredible legacy and will be greatly missed by all that were priveledged to know him.

dear carolyn, what sad news. i am so sorry to hear about jim. i will always think of our days as newsboys at the jackson sun, as band mates at jackson high, and at union univ. it was always fun to be with jim. he had a great sense of humor and was always a regular good ole boy to me. i do hope you will come to his JHS CLASS OF 57 REUNION..my sincere sympathy to you and tom. We were privileged to have one contact with Jim McAfee. At the Judson-Rice Dinner sponsored by Baptists Today, he came up to us afterwards and introduced himself. Margaret and I join many others in remembering you in our prayers. We give thanks for what the McAfee family has meant to Mercer University over the years.
