To Mrs. McAvoy and the entire McAvoy family, My mom and I were just notified of the passing your husband/dad. Our deepest condolences to you all. The Sun-Times article was wonderful and I have many fond memories of all of you growing up next door on Waveland. I can vividly remember your dad playing handball squares in his work boots after a long day at work and beating everyone. He was a one of a kind man and created a wonderful legacy that will live on for many generations.

Your friends from St. Elizabeth's Hospital School of Nursing send our sympathy and love. We have many good memories of Jim and Alice from the 1950"s. We are sorry for your family's loss.

Dear Alice and family,

So sorry to hear of Jim's passing. You are all in our hearts and prayers. I can still remember so many years ago being at your Chicago home with my 'bonus' Dad, Ed, and you all welcoming us so openly. The beautiful article in the Sun Times is a fitting tribute to Jim!
