Not sure what to say?

I went to San Francisco with Doug in '85 and stayed with James & Elaine for a week and have some very fond memories from the time I spent with them. I admired James for chasing his dream and making it a reality. He did what he loved - which is what all of us fantasize about but not all of us achieve. James did leave this world early - but like Doug said - he packed alot of living into his 56 years. What a free-spirited, talented and gentle soul !! God Love You James.

The world has lost something very special in James. His photography is moving and his activism inspirational. The beauty and value of his animal subjects' personalities is very evident in his work... I'm so sorry for the loss of such an admirable person.

I SEND MY CONDOLENCES TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS. MY THOUGHTS GO WITH YOU. JAMES A NICE MAN,GIFTED AN AMAZING ARTIST WITH A FLAIR FOR LIFE. EAGER FOR THE NEXT PROJECT HE LIKED AND WITH ZEST DID HE CARRY IT OUT. PHOTOGRAPHY,GRAPHIC DESIGN, MUSIC AND LUNA AND BOBCAT WERE HIS PASSION'S. FOR ALL OF US WHO KNEW JAMES, WE WILL MISS YOU. IT WAS A PLEASURE TO HAVE KNOWN HIM. LIFE RARELY BRINGS US SUCH WONDERFUL PEOPLE. BLESS YOU AND GODS SPEED

I am a native of the Richmond Dist. where James lived. In fact, an OLD friend of ours lived in the very same building as James when her family moved to SF in the late 50z! I have some fond memories with James. Some centered around our favorite hangout in the...
