Not sure what to say?

In Jimmy’s early years in Sydney I along with his bosom buddy Tom Krause, and a Canadian expat Doug Courreau shared a house in Balmain. Interesting times, interesting mates. Bless his great Irish heart, I’m sure he’s regaling the gods with his marvelous wit. RIP. Mike Bernosky

I was a '62 classmate of Jim's in High School at Barrytown, NY. After 50 years we saw each other again at our reunion in 2012. He was a very talented fellow, but also had a good sense of humor and kindness.
I thought I'd include his write-up in our High School graduation year book:
"Jim hails from Incarnation and is one of the most hearty boys of the Senior Class. For all of his six feet, three inches, he is a very jocular and companionable fellow. He prefers the outdoors and...

James was a local pub friend of outstanding scolarship , a welcome rarity in our bar. he increased the group and quality of conversation markedly. Our mutual love of Art, History, Verdi Puccini and their enhanced appreciation after a drink or two was memorable, as was the family Xmas we shared with his magnum of Grange. His readiness to laugh and regard for others made him instant friends. His early diagnosis and subsequent departure was a sad time for us, as is his passing now.

Jim was two years ahead of me at the Christian Brothers' Juniorate in Barrytown, NY. Condolences from the Crowley family

Former colleagues of James have just been informed of James' passing via The Age newspaper [Melbourne, Australia] alumni Facebook website. James worked at The Age for many years. James was highly regarded and admired and a dear friend to many. A great man and loyal and devoted to the newspaper he served well. Our sympathies from his many colleagues here in Australia.

I thought long and hard about what I could say about my friend of 62 years. He was an inspiration to me daily and the memories of shared experiences still light up my day. I'm going to borrow a passage from Waking Ned Devine because it says what I need to say.
Jim McCausland was my great friend. But I don't remember telling him that enough. The words that are spoken at a funeral are spoken too late for the man that is dead. Jim and I grew old apart but always together. But at times,...
