Not sure what to say?

I knew Jim since he came to St. Stephen's in the late 60s. It was always a pleasure to run into him at Timbers games. He will be missed by many in the Portland area.

A blessing, a warm smile and a heart of gold, Jim was a friend, a mentor and a colleague as a board member for Independent Living Resources for the past 10 years. Jim's spirit is a guide for me, as we're each Libras, and is drawing me back to Ireland to celebrate his life. With my own family heritage linked to Donegal, an hour from Derry, I'm looking forward to bringing ILR's love for Jim and our board and staff members' gratitude for Jim's vision for empowering people with disabilities to...

Jim was a major presence in his Community Action and Aging and DIsabilities services for decades. He was a respected leader, creative and passionate. He was a colleague, but also a friend. He will be missed, but his legacy will live on.

The Interfaith Alliance on Poverty mourns the death of Jim McConnell. He was instrumental in bringing St. David of Wales Episcopal congregation into our organization, and he subsequently joined the Advocacy Action team. His time with us was brief, but his presence as a wise and heartfelt advocate will stay with us. Our condolences to his family and to all who were privileged to be a part of his life. Karen Nettler, co-chair

I am so sorry for your loss. I have known Jim since 1991. When I first entered the world of serving older adults and people with disabilities, Jim mentored me and taught me so much. He was always gracious, patient and generous with his time and knowledge. I learned so much from him and could never repay him for that. I would not be where I am today without his kindness and support. He was funny, smart, and so dedicated. He was an amazing advocate, and this is a huge loss for Oregon and...

I knew Jim in my years at Cascade Health Care when Jim was Board Chair. His intelligence and good humor was well as his deep faith and commitment to serve the poor and marginalized was remarkable. He was a kind and strong man. I am sure he will be greatly missed. May God rest his soul and console his family and loved ones, especially Pat.
